{296}{330}Hello I’m Eric Mouquet. {347}{396}I’m a musician and composer. {416}{482}I had the chance to be part of Deep Forest, {496}{546}a project that had success around the world. {564}{596}I compose and make movie soundtracks {615}{637}And today {653}{721}I want to show you my two favourite places in my house: {731}{833}my recording studio where I work as a musician {851}{935}and my observatories, my second passion, {962}{1034}where I spend nights taking photos of the sky. {1181}{1281}I didn’t hesitate between music and astronomy, I did both! {1393}{1496}Here we are at the end of the garden under the main dome {1514}{1644}and this is the place where we control the two telescopes. {1763}{1858}I taught myself, alone with books and little by little {1871}{1952}with people who are passionate about astronomy. {1966}{2041}There are a lot of amateur astronomers in France and in the world. {2236}{2335}The envy of looking at the stars comes from my childhood. {2351}{2429}I have memories of myself looking at the summer sky, {2442}{2527}absolutely filled with wonder by the stary sky above. {2544}{2669}And I always had the curiosity to go closer and closer | to see what’s hapenning up there. {2750}{2868}The night is a very special time. | At night we sleep, we are somewhere else. {2882}{2946}And staying awaken is important. {2954}{3064}We know that for children, not going to bed | and doing something for themselves is very exciting. {3077}{3154}I think that when we become adults {3167}{3275}there is still something in us remaining from this. | We are out of the world at night. {3313}{3462}What impassions me about astronomy, | is to be able to capture images of objects that are far, far away. {3475}{3663}I look at maps and see galaxies that are | 10, 15 lightyears, sometimes more... {3673}{3781}When I take a photo and see the image appearing {3792}{3920}I have a kind of fascination, | saying to myself that we’re insignificant in that universe, {3921}{3974}there are so many things surrounding us. {3975}{4025}This is a chance to have the possibility, in a garden, {4057}{4132}to take into conception all this in a very simple manner. {4354}{4541}It was evident to me to add music to the images. | I wanted to find an atmosphere that wasn't artificial {4603}{4803}and not a caricature/fright of what we imagine | when we think of music about space. {4870}{5045}I wanted organic things, | really traditionnal instruments {5100}{5170}and things close to sound textures. {5319}{5435}Textures will evocate distances, space, feelings {5469}{5619}and simple intruments like flute and percussions | will bring us to where we are. {5818}{5993}What we do in astronomy has an influence on our every day life | and probably in music too. {6028}{6188}There’s an interaction between what I do during the day | and what I do at night. {6203}{6403}There’s something close to spirituality and transcendence. | That’s what I’m looking for, {6460}{6585}there’s a link with astronomy, | with the fact of looking for things outside of our world.
